Young 5's adventures from the last 2 weeks...

Letter Cc brought a lot of fun into our room.  Here are a few pictures from Carnival Day.

Finished Products!

Our class with some Crazy face paint!

We tossed beach balls around at circle time.  Our job was to say the letter name and sound of the letter our thumb landed on.

We  matched capitol letters to lower case letters.

Carnival Day Lockers!
Thank you to everyone who brought or volunteered to bring popcorn.  It was a hit!

New Song:
Ask your child to sing the song that goes along with the below picture. We are having a lot of fun with it.

Gods Big Words
This week while talking about Self-Control we read, No David!  David gave us some silly examples of what not using self control might look like.

Science
We are starting a new unit on, the body.  Below is a picture of our 'I Wonder' board.

To answer our questions about bones we used a light table and x-rays.

We used that information to create our very own skeleton.  This was a very silly craft!

Donuts with Dad:
Thank you for celebrating D with with us.  It was such a special day having you all in our room.

A peek into Young 5's

Take a look below to see what we have been up to in Young 5's....

This year Young 5's is teaming up with Mrs. Vander Vennen's 5th grade class.  For the first time meeting with our buddies, the 5th graders did a skit about an apple.  The skit was entitled, "The Little House with No Doors and No Windows and a Star Inside."

After the skit we made apples with our buddies.

Here is a picture of the apples hanging in our Young 5's room.

October bring us a new God's Big Word.  This month we are talking about Self- Control.  The verse that accompanies this word is Proverbs 25-28. (The Message)

Each week Miss Ver Woert puts a new letter on our door.   As we go in and out of our room, we give it a BIG high 5 and say the letter name and sound.

It sure was fun to bubble paint for letter Bb.

We continued to learn about our classmates this week by charting our hair color. Through charting, we learned about tally marks and what to do when we reach 5.

To kick off our Jungle unit, we made an 'I Wonder' board.  Together we brainstormed what we wonder about the jungle.

After reading, Verdi,  we created a patterned snake.

To answer some of the questions on our 'I Wonder' board, we went on a safari.  On the safari we found and learned about several jungle animals.  Our binoculars helped us spot the animals from far away.
