Our first two weeks

Our first two weeks of school have been very busy for our Young 5's friends.  We have enjoyed making new friends, learning about our room, and the specials teackers.  Both Miss Van Vels and I are loving this class and having lots of fun with them.  Here is a look at what we have been up to.

We read A My Name is Alice and did a cute craft to go along with it.  This craft had us exploring our names and our peers names.  We also put our fine motor skills to work, painting our names with q-tips.

We read Miss Nelson is Missing when we talked about classroom routines and promises.  We used a diagram to explore ways we could keep our classroom safe and help us learn.

Here is our diagram and the classroom promises we made.

Using the chart below we took a look at how our friends get home after school each day.  We used the graph to discover how many boys and girls are in our class, too.

God's Big Words:
This month our big word is, Kindness.  We read Amos McGee's Sick Day at the Zoo to help us recognize kindness.  We also read the story of the Good Samaritan.

We had a fantastic week with your child.  Thank you for sharing!

Welcome to Young 5's

Welcome to Young 5's!

Wow!  Has the summer flown by.  I hope you have had a wonderful summer and spent time enjoying the outdoors.   I have spent my summer heading up north on the weekends and having fun in Little Sprouts during the week.

This year, I will be using this blog to share pictures and for communications.  This blog will also house the Sign Up Genius for the weekly Art Helper and Mystery Reader.  Please use the link below to sign the sign up to be a helper.  Thank you!
